Vice: Fewer teens are getting pregnant, but no one knows why

I found this article fascinating because it actually stepped through the various correlative factors at work in interpreting what’s going on with the teen birth rate. Although the answer may be unsatisfying (“we don’t really know what the biggest factor is”), actually thinking through some of the analysis actually allows thoughtful questions to be asked. There may not be a silver bullet, but it seems like factors both good (Plan B) and bad (continued use of abstinence-only education) are causing the drop.

My interpretation of this is that though continued access to sex education is improving teens’ outlook on sex, there’s probably still a lot of work to do- both education on contraception and consent are sorely needed to continue to improve our nation’s outlook on sex, especially among younger people.
