First, as last week showed, bad policy is rarely worth having a panic attack over. Speak your mind, certainly, but policy will rarely “doom” anything…and if it actually will (the FCC’s original rules may have, it’s hard to say), someone will realize this.
Second, I am in full favor of regulating broadband companies as common carriers. All their bloviating about stifling innovation is, unsurprisingly, bullshit. UPS and FedEx complied with common carrier regulations and provided huge innovations in logistics that brought us the internet economy as we know it (hard to have an Amazon without good shipping).
Alternatively, we can split them from their phone services and force them to share wires. Because they’d love that so much more…
