Marginal Revolution: What turns students away from political moderation?

What turns students away from political moderation?

This is an interesting article that Cowen links to at Inside Higher Ed. In short, exposure to more professors and faculty tends to moderate students (on both sides), while more participation in student-led political activities tends to make them more extreme (on both sides).

So 18 year olds have more extreme views that are less grounded in reality than experienced, highly educated professors? No way…

It does also tend to put another nail in the coffin of this whole “liberal academia” nonsense, but anyone who’s actually been on a university campus in the last decade wouldn’t be surprised by this.
